StandardAI

StandardAI, an autonomous retail platform that enables checkout-free shopping, had recently updated their brand and needed a visual overhaul of their app to align with their new brand, as well as enhancements to the user journey.

I worked with a small team to first map out the in-store user journey and then create wireframes to mapped to the different parts of the journey. We then created two visual directions that we could use to build out the rest of the app. After we tested and prototyped our final designs, StandardAI received a design toolkit that they could use to update the rest of their product to create a seamless experience from product discovery to adoption.

Takeaways

01.

This was my first project in Figma. Had a great time. Highly recommend.

02.

Visual design overhauls inevitably have a UX aspect to them. Often, client may think they’re saving money on a project by only doing x or only doing y, when in reality, x and y are tangled together, (x and y being UX and visual design). This was not a problem for this project, but it should always be something to watch out for during project intake.

03.

Transparency in interfaces is important, especially when the concept is novel. Giving the user the information that they need to know that they’re on the right track, be is push notifications, in app banners, or motion and illustration, grants the user the confidence that they need to fulled explore your product and increases the chances that they’ll come back for another session.
